It's almost St. Patrick's Day and it's snowing in Colorado! I guess that isn't too unusual however I'm ready for some warmer days. :)

Robin Lynne featured me on her blog today! She has super cute and colorful things in her Etsy shop shop so I'm honored to be featured by her!

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, check out these fun GREEN earrings. I love how they swing and they are super light weight!!

In the near future I will be changing my blog to a different blog provider. In the meantime you can always shoot me an email, I would love to hear from you!

Nature Girl

I've been busy making a ton of new pieces! Several have been listed on my website however there are still several more to come!

I have been wanting to use these wood beads forever and I finally did. I love this bracelet! It's so comfy to wear and very light weight. The hand formed swirls I think add just a touch of fun and whimsy.
Here she is, my Modern Nature Girl :)

Amy Esther came across my work on a website called Indiepublic and decided to feature me on her blog. I couldn't be more thrilled or honored to have someone take the time to write about my work! Check out her blog entry on Blue Lily Designs here!

On another happy note, I returned from the Tucson Gemshow this past Sunday and came home with a ton of new goodies to create with! It was over whelming at first to see such a huge selection of stones and beads, however it was also a ton of fun. :) I can't wait to take a pic to show you my pile of new stuff!

Let the shopping be done!

Can you believe Christmas Eve is 3 weeks from today?! I finished the majority of my shopping before Thanksgiving but there are still a few things left to buy. If you haven't finished your shopping yet I would highly recommend shopping on http://www.etsy.com. There are so many wonderful artists on there! When you buy handmade you're helping someone live their dream and you get a product that's made with love, often better than what you can buy mass produced and more unique too!

Check out some of my favorite items and sellers on my Favorites page:
http://www.etsy.com/favorite_listings_p ... id=5090093

I recently bought this lip scrub from an Etsy seller and I love it!!!http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8107540

Have fun shopping!!!

Tumbler Died

My Harbor Freight tumbler died earler this week. So sad. :( I know I was not overloading the barrels either and I certainly was not using it more than it's supposedly designed to be used. Hubby said the motor was just dying and couldn't keep up. Even with only one barrel loaded it was barely turning (and this is a double barrel tumbler). So... I ordered a Lortone tumbler, specifically the Lortone 33B. This tumbler should be of much higher quality so hopefully I don't have the same problem. Alas, I should have sprung for it in the first place, live and learn I guess! Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive. :)

Being tumbler-less, last night I tried the good 'ol baking soda and aluminum foil trick for polishing my jewelry. Well, actually it's supposed to be washing soda, but I didn't have that on hand so I used baking soda. It worked pretty well, more so on some pieces than on others. Look for instructions in a future blog. Or, if you just can't wait send me a note and I'll tell ya the secret. ;) (Of course google will also tell you, but what fun is that?).

Enjoy your Thanksgiving! Hubby and I will be driving to Tucson tomorrow to be with my family. It will be a long drive, but I can't wait!!

Etsy Shop Now Open!

I decided to open a shop on etsy.com. Etsy is a great website where individuals can sell their handmade items. I'm excited because I think it will give Blue Lily exposure to a broader audience. I plan to sell jewelry but may add some other handmade gifts as well. So stop on by and check it out! So far I only have 2 items listed but new items will be added regularly.

http://www.bluelilydesigns.etsy.com

No worries though, I will still be maintaining and adding items to my regular website. :)

Stay tuned for new items and pictures to be added soon!

B-day Bracelet

My sister received her b-day gift in the mail so now I can post a picture of the sterling silver bracelet I made for her!

I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I think she likes it too. :)

I haven't taken a very good picture yet, but here's my other most recent bracelet. It's sterling silver with lantern shaped smokey quartz. I've been in the mood to focus more on sterling silver lately, I think for it's versatility. You can't go wrong with a piece of silver jewelry and since brown is neutral as well this bracelet is very easy to wear. The picture may be fuzzy but it really is a simple, clean, and sparkly bracelet!

New bracelet is coming!!!

Oh, it's been way too long since I've posted! I've been busy, busy, busy with Bailey, the house and out of town visitors. It's been fun though!

So I realized this past weekend that the holidays are just around the corner!! So much to do and not enough time. LOL! I'm considering signing up for the Pine Creek Holiday Bazaar but with my little hiatus from making jewelry I need to start cranking if I want to do it!

Onto the jewelry I do have!!! I did make a new bracelet this past weekend however I haven't taken a picture yet. It's sterling silver chain maille with a few lantern shaped smokey quartz. I just love using smokey quartz because it goes with practically everything! I also made something for my sister for her 30th b-day... it's almost a month belated and not in the mail yet so I better stop with that. To not spoil her surprise, I'll post a pic after I actually give it to her!

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer!

Introducing Bailey

Scott and I got a new Labrador puppy! The breeder's dog that we were planning on getting a puppy from had a false pregnancy. It was very disappointing at first but it worked out in the end, and for the better I think! We ended up finding another breeder in the paper, Stormy Lee Kennels, and were able to get a puppy much sooner than we planned. Plus I really liked this puppies parents. If you live in the Colorado Springs or Pueblo area and are looking for a Lab, I would highly recommend this breeder! Joyce is great!

These pictures were taken last weekend when Bailey was not quite 8 weeks old.

Bailey and the house have been consuming my time lately, but as soon as I get a chance to make new jewelry I'll be sure and post pictures!

I haven't posted in awhile nor have I made any new jewelry to share or taken pictures of my last bracelet... but I'm still here! I've been focusing lately on house projects and feel like I'm making progress, slow progress, but hey it's progress! :)

Sunday Scott and I are going to meet the breeder and the parents of the puppy we will be adopting. I'm so excited for the little puppy!! However it's still two months yet before we will be bringing him home. Patience.... I must have patience! I'm sure I will certainly be needing that once we bring him home. :)

My Favorite Wardrobe Color Now in a Bracelet

A lot of people wear black as their "staple" color, but for me it's brown. A lot of people wear brown too, which is why I think you will like my latest bracelet. :) It's made with smokey quartz, light colorado topaz Swarovski crystals, Bali silver and of course sterling silver. I haven't taken pictures yet but will post them soon!

Speaking of staple colors, even though black is not my choice, I designed a bracelet with black onyx and light blue quartz. It just needs to be assembled. I thought I needed to design more pieces around basic neutral colors so be on the look out. :)

Off the jewelry topic, Scott and I are planning on getting a Labrador puppy. We are in the process of finding a breeder so it may be a couple of months, but I'm so excited! While I was making the brown bracelet last night it hit me that I'll have to be careful to keep the puppy out of my craft room. I don't want him eating my beads! Aside from not being good for him they aren't cheap either! :)

SRAJD and Why I Love Bracelets

I joined the SRAJD (Self Representing Artist Jewelry Designer) and have my logo!

So what is the SRAJD you ask? It's is a group of artists who design, create and sell their own jewelry. It means that all jewelry I sell is handmade by me and is not mass produced here or overseas. It is yet one more assurance that you are buying directly from the artist herself! :)

So what else is new... I've been working on yet another necklace if you can believe it! I actually have 2 in the works which is even harder to believe! :) I love wearing bracelets so much that that's what I tend to make. But do you know why I like them so much? ... Because then I get to look at my pretty all day. :) I can be typing away at work in my bland white walled office (where I really need to hang pictures) and then I can glance down for a moment and see something lovely! While earrings and necklaces are great and fun to wear as well, it's pretty impossible to admire them on yourself. So there you have it, the reason you will almost always see new bracelets on my website more often than other things. I really do try to add balance, but what can I say, I'm drawn to making bracelets!
