Latest Happenings

1/26/12: Staying home with two little ones has kept me busy and away from making jewelry however when a friend told me about a friend of theirs who needed help I knew immediately I wanted to help if I could. Here is the story I have read about baby Hunter:
Hunter Lee Spillman has been fighting for his life from day one, born weighing only 1lb 14oz. He has been diagnosed with having a lung disease, an incurable heart disease (Pulmonary Vein Stenosis) & having 3 holes in his heart (VSD, ASD & PDA) since birth. After traveling through several different hospitals here in NC who claimed they could do nothing to help Hunter, finally Boston Children's Hospital accepted him & would try to close the holes in his heart. Hunter has been through 2 major heart surgeries, the first one being in May of 2011 & the most recent was an 11 hour procedure to restore the holes in his heart. He also has had a tracheotomy put in & had 4 heart catherizations in the past 10 months. To say that this sweet little boy & his family have been through too much is an understatement! Ashley, Hunter's mother, is required to work 32 hours at her employer to keep their insurance benefits. She is currently working three 12 hour shifts Mon-Wed & spending the remainder of the week with Hunter in Boston. Hunter being states away is taking a huge toll on the family as a whole. I am in the process of rounding up items to auction in benefit for sweet Hunter. All of the proceeds will go to the Spillman family in honor of Hunter's first birthday, March 5th, 2012. This will help the massive cost of the family traveling back & forth from NC to the Children's Hospital Boston on a weekly basis. I will be donating a pair of earrings to the auction, so please head over to bid on them or any of the other wonderful things that are being donated! As a mom, my heart really goes out out to Hunter and his family. I will update here once the auction is open.
